About TEA ADMIN

Hey there! If you need assistance, please see our home page and menu to learn how to contact us.

SIAL Canada (the SIAL international food show in North America) is back—and 100% in-person—in Montreal from April 20 to 22, 2022 for its 19th edition, which promises to offer up a number of new elements.

After more than 20 months of the pandemic, SIAL Canada is pleased to be back in person and return to its status as Canada’s only international agri-food tradeshow; the exhibition continues to be an essential stop for any industry player looking to meet others and grow their business.

For three days, the 2022 edition of SIAL Canada will have all eyes on Montreal, North America’s culinary capital, as it becomes the nerve centre of the agri-food industry—both for Canada and the world—offering up plenty of new approaches and initiatives to help everyone meet future challenges.

In fact, by 2030, the agri-food industry will need to feed almost 9 billion people, all while trying to limit the impact a vulnerable environment will have on resources, which for hundreds of years we thought were inexhaustible. As a result, our production and consumption patterns will be put to the test and our manufacturers must now innovate by producing differently and
looking for new agri-food alternatives that are better thought-out and more respectful of our environment—all while contending with significant labour shortages.

A tradeshow the whole industry is looking forward to!

With three months left until it opens, SIAL Canada has already sold out, thereby re-establishing its position as a North American leader!

The show is made up of more than 800 exhibitors from all over Canada and the world, in 200,000 ft of exhibition space, ready to meet the more than 20,000 decision-makers there from all over North America!

A tradeshow that’s constantly adapting

The 2022 edition is full of changes and, for the first time, this year the equipment section of SET Canada will makes way for two new sectors that are growing and are aligned with industry demand:
• SET HRI and SET MAG will give way to SIAL GROCERANT—a sector that’s exclusive to North America and is dedicated to transforming and fusing the worlds of retail and food service (and vice versa).
• SET PACKAGING and SET SUPPLY CHAIN will make way for SIAL PACKAGING—a space aimed at responding to developments within the packaging sector and in related logistics.

Finally, the American Buyers Program will be back at SIAL Canada 2022 and will offer U.S. buyers and importers a unique meeting platform and a special experience, in partnership with the AFI—a major association representing American importers and retailers. The program has been subject to so much interest that it will welcome buyers from all over the world in
partnership with MAPAQ, OMAFRA, EDC, Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, and UGI.

An event featuring high-level content!

Every year, SIAL Canada allows participants to discover the challenges of tomorrow through its series of conferences led by renowned industry personalities. The program ofor 30 or so conferences this year includes: the food of the future, new food trends and innovations, globalization, the challenges of supply and demand management, geographical indications,
culinary tourism, and much more...

SIAL Innovation: The only international contest with a presence all over the world.

Made up of food-industry experts, and held in partnership with XTC World Innovation, each year the jury rewards 10 finalists—and this year it will hand out three (3) Grand Prizes. The Grand Prize Winners will have the unique opportunity of traveling the world through all of the SIAL shows, which include: Canada (Montreal/Toronto), China, Paris, Jakarta (SIAL InterFOOD), Abu Dhabi, and New Delhi.

The finalists, including the Grand Prize Winners, will be exhibiting at the SIAL Innovation space located at the heart of the show. Surrounded by experts and some jury members, the finalists and the selected items will take centre stage among visitors looking for new products.

The startup village: A Canadian exclusive

The start-up village is the only one of its kind in Canada and was launched in 2019 during SIAL Toronto, bringing together more than 20 burgeoning food businesses. These companies will try to promote their products and services during a pitch competition, to earn awards through their innovations in technology, sustainable development, and nutrition, among others.

The international cheese competition is back in 2022!

Building on its success in 2019 in Toronto, which featured 229 cheeses from 9 countries, SIAL Canada welcomes everyone in April 2022 for the second edition of the international cheese competition. A jury made up of cheese-industry professionals will evaluate the crème de la crème of cheesemakers and award a gold medal to the best cheeses in 28 categories.

A booming beverage sector

From warm drinks, health drinks, fresh juices, seltzers, and low-alcohol or non-alcoholic drinks, this sector has been in a constant state of change for a few years now! A first this year is the launching of a microbrewery village showcasing Quebec and Canadian craft-beer know-how! Inspire Drink, a hosted event dedicated to drinks of all types and to mixology, is back—and
you’ll also be able to meet expert, Jean-Sébastien Michel!

The importance of the local market

The local market is more important than ever, with over 400 Canadian companies being represented. In addition, high-profile provincial partners, such as Aliments du Québec, the Conseil de la transformation alimentaire du Québec, and Export Group, as well as a number of Canadian associations support the brand’s efforts. With pavilions from every Canadian province, SIAL Canada has become the only platform for everything Canada has to offer. On top of that, ever more innovative products await the many national buyers, who are always on the lookout for something new.

SIAL Canada: A platform for relaunching food service

SIAL Canada is proud to join the Association des restaurateurs du Québec to help a food-service industry hard hit by a two year pandemic. On the floor, thousands of new products and pieces of equipment grounded in the latest trends will be presented! With the grocerant component of the food-service sector on the rise, La Cuisine by SIAL will meet the needs of
restaurateurs and retailers through two days of programming grounded in the theme of “Sous-Vide Food Service.”

SoSIAL commitment

In order to reduce food wastage and to take part in knowledge and skill sharing with future generations—all with the aim of fostering a sustainable society—the SIAL Canada’s SoSIAL program will continue to commit itself to social causes by, among other things, taking part in recovering food on behalf of charities that redistribute it to those in need. In addition, for each
entrance ticket that is purchased, SIAL Canada will provide $5 to Moisson Montréal, a community organization that serves as a food bank for the Island of Montreal.

International opportunities

SIAL Canada is a world of products to discover! Canada’s shifting demographics, coupled with growing consumer demand for ethnic and specialty products, explains why so many countries will be showcasing their products from overseas. Also, as part of the Experts Hubs, B.K. Sethi, a consultant with more than 35 years of experience in the ethnic market, will be on-site in
Montreal for the second time—before, during and after the show—to help everyone uncover new opportunities!
