For a second year in a row the world will be celebrating International Tea Day, on May 21st and the Canadian tea industry will be joining in the celebration with SofaSummit. Hosted by the Tea & Herbal Association of Canada, this virtual event features a full day of interviews with tea experts around the world and will be streamed live on their YouTube channel for anyone to join.
Join the Tea & Herbal Association of Canada on May 21st from 8:00am to 7:00pm ET for a full day of interviews with tea experts around the world. This virtual event is for anyone who wants to learn more about their favourite beverage and gain an insight into this 5,000 year old beverage.
By celebrating International Tea Day, we are raising awareness for this delicious and healthy beverage, and our hope is that more Canadians will sip one extra cup of tea per week… a pretty achievable goal we think!
About International Tea Day:
On November 19, 2019, the United Nations General Assembly passed resolution 74/241 declaring May 21st International Tea Day. The importance of this day is to recognize tea producers around the world and raise attention for the second most consumed beverage around the world.
Tea production and processing is a main source of employment and income for millions of families in developing countries. “The Day will promote and foster collective actions to implement activities in favour of the sustainable production and consumption of tea and raise awareness of its importance in fighting hunger and poverty.” (United Nations, International Tea Day)
