MEMBER NEWS: Simpson and Vail announces a new literary tea blend honoring Maya Angelou!

Simpson & Vail is thrilled to welcome a new addition to their literary tea line, Maya Angelou’s Black Tea Blend. This blend honoring Dr. Angelou is a delightful addition to a line that encompasses other important literary figures.

The full line of authors are Louisa May Alcott, Maya Angelou, Jane Austen, the Bronte sisters, Lewis Carroll, Charles Dickens, Emily Dickinson, Fyodor Dostoyevsky, Frederick Douglass, James Joyce, Edgar Allan Poe, Beatrix Potter, William Shakespeare, Edith Wharton and Walt Whitman. Each of these fifteen teas comes in their own specially designed tins branded to each author, their lives and works.

“Creating a tea blend to honor an inspiring and influential woman has been quite exciting” said Cyndi Harron co-owner of Simpson & Vail. “Her wisdom, kindness and honest approach to life has, fortunately, been recorded for generations of people to benefit from.”

Poet, Author, Dancer, Actor, Singer, Activist, Teacher ... Maya Angelou was a true Renaissance Woman. To create her blend they looked back at her early writings and found lots of lovely tasting clues in I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings and from the cookbooks she wrote. This is a delicately balanced blend with a reddish amber color and a fruity, heady, sassy taste. The combination of pineapple, vanilla and orange dance playfully on the tongue. The addition of cloves brings a new depth to this taste, while the hibiscus adds to the fruity flavor and adds a reddish tinge to the amber cup. There is a mild astringency and a lingering fruit/spice taste on the tongue.

Each tea tin has brief information about the author it represents. Deeper information on each author is found on the Simpson & Vail website http://www.svtea.com/Literary-Author-Teas/products/173/
