Q&A THE TEA HOUSE TIMES & SIAL CANADA 2025

SIAL CANADA takes place in Toronto at the Enercare Centre, 2025 April 29-May 1. Registration and information may be found at www.SialCanada.com In preparation, we have prepared a Q&A for some insight into this year’s event.

Let’s start by mentioning INSPIRE DRINK. It has been a  main attraction on the show floor of SIAL for many years and The Tea House Times continues to be honored to curate the programming. We will focus on Food Service the first day and incorporate non-alcholic tea/coffee/alternative tastings each day. Alcohol programs take over in the afternoon thanks to Alambika.  Find us in booth 1538. Inspire Drink is nearby in 1531.

THT Q: In addition to INSPIRE DRINK, what other focused demonstrations and programs take place on the show floor?

SIAL A: Beyond INSPIRE DRINK, SIAL Canada 2025 offers several standout activations on the show floor. Highlights include the SIAL Innovation Booth, where top product finalists are showcased, and the SIAL Dairy Booth, home to the International Cheese Competition and tasting workshops. The SIAL Expert Hub provides short, focused sessions with specialists, and the SIAL Podcast Studio features live interviews with industry leaders. Together, these areas create a dynamic environment for learning, discovery, and networking!

THT Q: In addition to our expertise on tea, what other category experts are featured in the expert hub? I know there is also an expert on cheese, for example. What types of experts are available to help attendees, and how do attendees go about making appointments to connect with one of the experts?

SIAL A: The SIAL Expert Hub offers access to a diverse team of specialists in key industry fields—including dairy, retail, food health, packaging, foodservice, and compliance, among others. Experts like Gilles Froment (dairy), Andrew Macdonald (packaging), and Michi Furuya Chang (health) will host sessions throughout the show. No appointment is needed—attendees are welcome to drop in, listen, and engage during scheduled presentations.

THT Q: CANADA is the “Country of Honour” this year for SIAL. Please share important highlights of this honour, how it helps attendees and exhibitors, and any special events to acknowledge Canada at the show.

SIAL A: For the first time in SIAL history, Canada has been named Country of Honour. This recognition shines a spotlight on Canadian innovation and leadership in the agri-food sector. Attendees will find special pavilions and programming featuring Canadian products and thought leadership. The celebration kicks off with the Opening Ceremony and official ribbon-cutting on April 29 and continues throughout the show with expert panels, showcases, and dedicated networking opportunities.

THT Q: Can you provide a few highlights of the Education program for SIAL? Is it the same in year’s past? What is the procedure to add educational programming for a visitor?

SIAL A : This year’s education program includes over 70 sessions across 10 themed tracks, covering everything from global trade and retail trends to foodtech and sustainability. It’s a comprehensive program designed to help professionals tackle today’s challenges and opportunities. All sessions are included with your event badge—there’s no separate registration required. Visitors simply check the schedule and attend the sessions most relevant to them.

THT Q: Please provide a few highlights of the competitions taking place at SIAL.

SIAL A: SIAL Canada 2025 features three major competitions:

  • SIAL Innovation, recognizing standout products and packaging launched since 2024.
  • International Cheese Competition, with 29 categories judged by global experts.
  • Startup Pitch Competition, spotlighting promising CPG and FoodTech startups.

These competitions offer significant exposure for participants, including media coverage, podcast interviews, and access to top buyers.

THANK YOU!
