About TEA ADMIN

Hey there! If you need assistance, please see our home page and menu to learn how to contact us.

Keio Plaza Hotel (KPH), one of Japan’s most prestigious international hotels located in Shinjuku, Tokyo, will reopen its tea ceremony room “Sho-Fu-An” located on the 10th floor of our Main Tower from October 2 (Monday), 2023 for various events along with the resumption of overseas visitors travelling to Japan. To commemorate the reopening, an “Tea Ceremony with Hands-On Tea-Making Experience” will be held for the enjoyment of a wide range of guests, including not only those staying at our hotel but also those just stopping by for short visits. Japanese tea ceremony was founded in the 9th century, and it is based on the traditional aesthetic and spiritual values, including humility, simplicity and imperfection, that underlie Japanese society.

Along with the recent rise in the number of overseas visitors coming to Japan and their growing interest in experiencing Japanese culture, traditional Japanese tea ceremony remains high on their list of things to do during their visits. Consequently, the Keio Plaza Hotel will offer a 30 to 60 minute “Tea Ceremony Participation”, and a 90 to 120 minute “Tea Ceremony with Hands-On Tea-Making Experience” performed with English interpretation allowing small groups of up to 4 guests to participate in the actual ritual of making Japanese maccha green tea. These experiences will be held in the peaceful and tranquil atmosphere of our “Sho-Fu-An” tea ceremony room.

Thanks in part to the various events introducing Japanese arts and culture hosted by the Keio Plaza Hotel, currently about 80% of guests staying with us are from overseas. And we look forward to welcoming many Japanese and overseas guests to come and enjoy the various cultural events held at Our Hotel.
