Hojicha Co. announces the release of Hojicha Classic, a Japanese roasted green tea crafted in Kyoto.

With ongoing travel restrictions in place, many had no choice but to postpone or cancel their trips in 2020. This includes visits to Japan, one of the world’s most popular travel destinations. Hojicha Co. is hoping to bring a little piece of Japan to your home by introducing a new tea with a distinctive Japanese flavor.

“Our goal was to introduce a tea that reminded us of the experience of sitting down in a tea house or restaurant in Kyoto,” said co-founder Danielle Geva. “Sipping on Hojicha Classic feels like being transported to Japan without ever leaving home.”

Hojicha Classic is made with green tea grown on the hillsides of Kyoto, Japan. The green tea leaves are roasted at a high temperature to bring out a toasted flavor and aroma, a century old tradition which first originated in Kyoto.

The taste of Hojicha Classic is sweet and smoky, without a hint of bitterness. First time roasted green tea drinkers will be surprised by the reddish brown color of the tea leaves and the earthy taste of this green tea. Hojicha Classic can be prepared hot, iced, or using the mizudashi (cold brewing) technique. Even though roasted green tea is traditionally served without any milk or sweetener, Hojicha Classic also delights as a tea latte.

“With the addition of Hojicha Classic to the popular Hojicha Powder, we’re glad to offer both a traditional and a modern way to experience roasted green tea,” said Francois Mathieu, co-founder of Hojicha Co.

Hojicha Classic is sold in resealable bags of 80 grams. It is available exclusively online on Hojicha Co.’s website.
