PeKANT Tea Co, Long Island NY, introduced its line of chili infused RTD teas at this year’s NYC Coffee and Tea Festival, creating quite a buzz among curious tea enthusiasts.

The unique product line offers fair trade black tea, paired with real fruit purees, and is rounded off with a subtle chili infusion. The flavor profile is lightly sweet, with a little heat. With no added sugar, PeKANT Tea is a health and wellness brand offering a unique alternative to a market saturated with unhealthy bottled teas.

Consumers at the event appreciated the innovative way in which the product incorporates a completely new flavor experience, without adding anything artificial. Co-Founder Michael Romano says, “We wanted to create a new experience in a beverage, while using only real and natural ingredients. Infusing the chili pepper made sense because a growing number of people like a little spice on the palate, as well as the perceived health benefits. The chili heat comes in as a subtle secondary note in the background, and does not overpower the taste of the tea or fruit”.

Available in three chili infused flavors; Mango, Pear, and Pineapple, PeKANT Tea is currently available in select stores on Long Island, and will soon be available on-line. The company also recently partnered with Pilotworks, a specialty food distributor in Brooklyn, and will soon be expanding into the NYC market as well.
