SECOND ANNUAL RED ROSE TEA FIGURINE FAIR - NOVEMBER 7-9, 2007 - WINDSOR, CT

The second Annual Red Rose Tea Fair this past weekend was great fun.  Afternoon Tea held at the Windsor Historical Society was just as fabulous as last year.  Picture a room full of approx 100 women, 10 long tables of 10 per table, each table decked out in fine china, silver and linens.  Each table was hosted by a member of the Historical Society.  Members shared use of their own china and table linens and served us tea and kept our plates full of delightful tea sandwiches and sweets.  All food was prepared and donated by members.  The entertainment was great too. Last year it was a Victorian presentation; this year Edwardian. Very entertaining!  It was truly an impressive sight.........and delicious.  The entire community pulled together a fabulous event this year......Lady Gayle

FIRST ANNUAL RED ROSE TEA FIGURINE FAIR -- NOVEMBER 3-5, 2006 -- WINDSOR, CT

The first annual Red Rose Tea Fair was a spectacular success!  We definitely left with a warm fuzzy feeling.  Not to be missed next year if you missed it this year!!!  This event focused on the cute little figurines you get inside a box of Red Rose Tea, but it also incorporated loads of fun tea related activities.  Lady Gayle and friends found some beautiful tea pins at Patti's Treasures, antique store in Windsor.  And we thoroughly enjoyed the Victorian Tea Party and fashion show at the Windsor Historical Society.

Did you know that select packages of Red Rose Tea come with a collectible porcelain figurine made by Wade Ceramics in England?

Red Rose Wade figurines come in boxes of Red Rose Tea, made by Redco Foods, headquartered in Windsor, CT.

Well, you should have seen all the collectors turn out in search of a rare find to complete their collections.  Red Rose Tea/Redco was there with some extra special, larger Wade figurines as well.  Many tea related vendors and antiques and tea wares were also on display.  We, The Tea House Times, were there to display our fine gift shoppe items and hand out sample issues of The Tea House Times.  We also donated a subscription and Staffordshire teacup to the teacup auction, with proceeds going to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.  A limited edition Wade figurine was created for the fair and turned out to be a darling gingerbread man tree ornament!

The Jan/Feb 07 issue of The Tea House Times will have photos and more to report. Subscribe now. We had a fabulous time and shared a delightful tea with some of our readers at the Victorian Tea Party.

The Red Rose Tea Figurine Fair was created and coordinated by the Windsor Chamber of Commerce, Redco, and the Hilton Garden Inn.  Members of the Chamber of Commerce throughout the town participated, including The Beanery Bistro (a gourmet cafe --Children's Tea Party was here), Creative Fibers (knitting and crochet shop with unique yarns, needles, etc.), Patti's Treasures (Antiques & jewelry & collectibles, loads of tea things & tea pins), Water Closet (bath and body products, herbal teas), Bill Selig Jewelers (custom jewelry, antique restorations), More Than Ice Cream (sweet delights), Union Street Antiques (fine antiques, linens, furniture, glassware, Wade), Windsor Historical Society (charming 18th Century houses, exhibitions, learning center & host of the fabulous Victorian Tea Party), and the Bamboo Garden (Chinese/Japanese restaurant & host of the Victorian Tea Play by the Windsor Jesters theater group).

A shuttle bus ran throughout the day from the Hilton Garden Inn in Windsor, CT, into the town for fine shopping and teas and dinner.

The Tea Fair was held inside the ballroom of the Hilton Garden Inn.  Vendors included Redco Foods (Red Rose Tea), www.RedRoseFigurines.com , Wade Ceramics Ltd., www.Wade.co.uk , C&S Collectables, UK, www.CSCcollectables.co.uk/ , The Tea House Times (that's us :-) www.theteahousetimes.com  , PaulaWalla.com www.PaulaWalla.com , Wade Attic, www.WadeAttic.com , Wade New England www.WadeNewEngland.com , and Union Street Antiques, 20B Union St. in Windsor.

The fair opened on Friday night with a buffet dinner at the Hilton Garden Inn.  Speakers included Paula Pierce, Chamber Tourism Chairperson; Martin McMahon, Chamber President; Don Trinks, Mayor of Windsor Connecticut; and Doug Farrel, GM of Redco Foods.  The dinner was delicious and a teacup auction was held to benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.  This was more like a tricky tray where you place tickets for the items you wish to win.  Beautiful tea themed gift baskets had been donated and the event was a huge success. Table centerpieces served as door prizes ~ these were the fabulous display pieces used by Wade figurine collectors for displaying full themed sets.  Lady Gayle's daughter won Noah's Ark!
