Letís Talk About Fun - Guest Post by Ruby RedHat, Red Hat Society

Tuesday, July 5th 2016 @ 10:07 AM

Hello Summer! The sun is shining and it’s time to head out and have some fun. Every summer, I try to challenge myself to do something new.

Luckily, for the past few years, one new event that I could look forward to enjoying during the summer was the Red Hat Society’s International Convention. Last year, we went to Indianapolis, Indiana for the Speedway Sparkle convention, and this year we are heading to San Antonio, Texas for the RHS Remember the a la Mode International Convention.  I can hardly wait to explore San Antonio at the largest gathering of Red Hat Society Members of 2016!

It is my truest desire to inspire YOU to try something new and fun this summer. I wanted to share this post on the Red Hat Society’s blog, Red Hat Chat, called 50 Things to Do This Summer. It’s a great list of simple things you can do to this summer to add a bit of sparkle to your daily lives. The list includes things like:

- Paint a picture on a canvas

- Go to the movies with your siblings

- Make a root beer float

- Read a book based on a movie you have seen

- Draw a self-portrait

- Spend the day at the library

I’m going to challenge myself to complete as many activities from this list as I possibly can this summer. (I can hardly wait to see how my self-portrait comes out. Lol!)

I hope that you will take a look at the list and pick a few things that speak to you. It’s important to try new things and continue to grow as a person. I love that the Red Hat Society always inspires me to do this.

I’m wishing you a safe summer filled with laughter and sunshine!

RUBY REDHAT is the official mascot of the Red Hat Society.  In the year 2000, a little lady named Ruby appeared, out of nowhere, on the computer screen of EQM Sue Ellen's daughter, Andrea (aka Princess Daughter). Princess Daughter was working on the first Red Hat Society website and when Ruby got wind of it, she just volunteered her services as a representative (mascot?) for the entire membership. Ruby had recently finished compiling her Top Ten (plus one) Rules for Living and she had a feeling that both she and her rules would be able to help the Red Hat Society clarify its members and its purpose to the world. We are all thrilled to have her represent the little girl inside all of us, who is ready and willing to come out and play again in every woman who invites her to do so.
