Green is the New Black by Laura Childs

Sunday, May 3rd 2015 @ 10:31 PM

I’ve always been a raving fan for green tea, but now it’s truly come into vogue.  Besides containing antioxidants that fight and may even prevent cell damage, green tea improves blood flow and can even help to lower cholesterol.  One Swiss study found that people who drank green tea had greater activity in the “working memory” part of their brain.

Green tea is beginning to appear in over-the-counter creams, moisturizers, and hair products, and Starbucks even has a Green Tea Frappuccino.

With all that good news, there should be a tasty (yet healthy) recipe that you can whip up at home.  And here it is – a summer cooler I know you’ll enjoy!

Honey Mint Green Tea

½ cup fresh mint leaves

3 green tea bags

2 Tbsp. honey

4 cups boiling water

Add mint leaves, green tea bags and honey to boiling water.  Let steep for 5 minutes, and then remove tea bags.  Refrigerate until chilled.  Pour into tall glasses filled with ice.  Yields 4 servings.
