Introducing Sarah, Duchess of York to The Tea House Times by Gail Gastelu

Monday, December 12th 2016 @ 10:55 AM

Ladies and Gentlemen, please join me in extending a very warm welcome to Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York as she joins The Tea House Times as our latest and greatest contributor. Her first bi-monthly column in The Tea House Times is published in the JanFeb2017 issue along with an interview / Q&A between the two of us.  This expanded, special edition will be available December 19, 2016.  Her first guest blog entry with us begins today, December 12. More details below.

Sarah Ferguson, better known more formally as Sarah, Duchess of York (please refer to her as “Duchess”), shares our passion for tea and all of the great things in life that are better because of tea. Together the two of us are making plans to bring the beauty of tea into the lives of others in many different, unique, and very exciting ways this coming year. For starters, Duchess has volunteered to write exclusively for The Tea House Times publication six times per year beginning with the Jan/Feb 2017 issue in addition to regular blog posts online here:  Learn more about Duchess through her full bio which is linked at the bottom of each blog entry.

Here is a sneak peek at a small piece of our interview taken from The Tea House Times JanFeb2017 issue:

GAIL GASTELU, THE TEA HOUSE TIMES: My first elegant afternoon tea experience was in London over 20 years ago, long before I began publishing The Tea House Times. I look forward to exploring tea in London again, with you! -  What is it like for you to have grown up in a country that is so well known for its consumption and enjoyment of tea? What stands out most in your mind about London or England or British people enjoying tea in general?

SARAH, DUCHESS OF YORK: I think the difference in London, or indeed England in general, in relation to tea, is the understanding that it is more than just a drink. It’s a ritual, it’s a comfort. It’s someone listening to your problems; it’s a moment of peace in a busy day. Whether you’re partaking in a full afternoon tea service, or simply having a cup of tea, we are all aware it is an experience.

My friends, you may see through this one question alone how much the two of us are alike in our passion to help others to understand the importance of taking a moment, sharing a moment, to connect with people through tea. I’m also sharing here a photo of a card Duchess wrote to me recently, a bit personal, but I wanted to share it to demonstrate how caring and wonderful she is as an outlook into 2017 being an amazing year in connecting more people to the beauty of a tea lifestyle.

Duchess and I will keep you abreast of our adventures, possible events, any appearances together, and any news of her books and products….through The Tea House Times publication, through our blogs, through The Tea House Times website calendar, and weekly eNews:

eNews (weekly email):

What does all of this mean for me or for you moving into 2017?

As for myself – I will modify the availability of some of my own speaking engagements and focus on presentations that Duchess and I may do together to strengthen consumer and business perspectives on tea and a healthy tea-related lifestyle. My commitment, passion, and purpose remains in connecting businesses and consumers to all things tea - to continue to excite and engage consumers - and to help tea businesses stay in business.

For our readers and tea loving consumers in general, you will be exposed to this beautiful world of tea experiences and human connection in many more special and unique ways the same as we have in the past. But now, we have our own real life view, through Duchess, of what it might have been like to live like the very popular Downton Abbey you have all followed and enjoyed along with tea parties so often . . . among other ways to connect with others through tea.

For businesses, The Tea House Times remains true to helping you grow along with us. Our unique distribution partners over the past year have increased our reach and we are considering additional distribution partners for 2017.

We are all very excited! Hopefully, you will have a chance to meet me with Duchess together at some point in 2017. Duchess is incredibly positive with a lovely, vibrant personality. She is warm and friendly and caring as you would expect anyone who has grown up with tea a part of their life.  And she always travels with her own tea set! Love it!

Thank you for sharing your passion with all of us, Duchess. Again, a very warm welcome to you! Together we will help our readers to better understand how tea can have a positive impact in all parts of life.

Stay tuned everyone!  (Read her first blog post here.)
