Tea Sommelier Whips up Lattes and Tea Cocktails for GOT MILK?

San Clemente, Calif. – Over the last five years, tea has become the new “it” beverage among Americans, especially here in California. Thanks to their health benefits and the wide variety of herbs and flavors, tea and tea latte offerings now rival coffee drinks at major retail chains. With the arrival of the fall season, the time is right to explore new and exciting tea trends. Enter Bay Area-based tea sommelier, Christopher Coccagna. The young, ingenious sommelier has partnered with the California Milk Processor Board (CMPB), the creator of GOT MILK?, to provide beverage enthusiasts with innovative takes on teas with milk. From cambrics to cocktails and everything in between, Coccagna’s tea drinks are perfect for the cooler months and for entertaining this holiday season.

“Tea is a lot more versatile than we imagine,” says Coccagna, owner of T-WE TEA. “There are incredible varieties and flavors. Add milk, and tea becomes creamy, rich and even exciting. My recipes are perfect for any time of day, whether to be enjoyed alone or with friends!”

Coccagna’s creations use only the finest ingredients available to heighten flavor while keeping the preparation turnkey and accessible for everyone. Velvety red rose petals, fragrant lavender blossoms, cool peppermint sprigs and spicy cardamom pods are just some of the exciting ingredients incorporated into his awe-inspiring, modern beverages created exclusively for GOT MILK? Through the creativity of experts like Coccagna, the tea industry has gained momentum and followers among today’s discriminating cosmopolitan palates.

Coccagna’s exclusive tea with milk offerings for GOT MILK? include:

· Tea Lattes  – Beautiful to see but even more delicious to drink, frothy tea lattes such as the Cinnamon Rose, Lavender London Fog or Matcha Green Tea Latte are enjoyable anytime during cooler weather months.

· Cambrics – With soothing, fragrant ingredients like chamomile flowers, jasmine flowers and rose hips, these milk-steeped teas blossom in a cup. Our Good Night Tea with Milk, Vanilla Mint Cambric and Slow Simmered Chai are perfect for tea fans of any age.

· Cocktails – Celebrate with extraordinary tea and milk-based cocktails!  Guests at your next get together can be titillated by world-inspired concoctions such as the Horchata Chai or White Russian Caravan Martini. Or if your guests like it hot, offer them a mug of Holiday Peppermint Cocoa with a zing.

“We are thrilled to explore the new world of tea with someone as passionate as Christopher,” says Steve James, CMPB Executive Director. “Tea lattes are a fresh way to enjoy milk and the possible combinations are endless. We hope Californians try several varieties and recipes this season!”

About the CMPB

The California Milk Processor Board was established in 1993 to make milk more competitive and increase milk consumption in California. Awareness of GOT MILK? is over 90% nationally and it is considered one of the most important and successful campaigns in history.  GOT MILK? is a federally registered trademark that has been licensed by the national dairy boards since 1995.  The CMPB’s Spanish-language campaign began in 1994 using the tagline “Familia, Amor y Leche” (Family, Love and Milk).  The TOMA LECHE (Drink Milk) campaign replaced it in 2006, following a growing trend in Hispanic food advertising that uses wit and humor to reach audiences.  GOT MILK? gifts and recipes can be viewed at www.gotmilk.com and www.tomaleche.com.  The CMPB is funded by all California milk processors and administered by the California Department of Food and Agriculture.
