Hong Kong International Tea Fair - August 16-18, 2012

May 22, 2012 – Since its inception in 2009, the HKTDC Hong Kong International Tea Fair has achieved recognition as a major international tea trading platform in just three-year-time. Entering its 4th edition, the fair, organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) will be held from 16-18 August at the Hong Kong Exhibition and Convention Centre. The fair will open to traders only for the first two days, and welcome tea enthusiasts from the public on its final day.

Global Taste
Hong Kong is an ideal sourcing platform for global tea industry players, offering unrivalled conditions for trade. Not only is Hong Kong completely impartial, having no tea production of its own, it is superbly located at the crossroads of the world, with first-class communications as well as financial and logistic services.

This year, the fair is expected to host more than 300 exhibitors, with Iran and Thailand making their first appearance. Their presence solidifies Hong Kong as a premier tea-trading hub in the region.

Besides serving as a tea trading platform for traders, the Tea Fair also dedicates to better nurture the tea culture to the public, Friends of Tea Display and Tea Ware zone is aimed to promote tea-food pairing, and immerse tea into our daily dining experience by featuring bakery products, confectionary and tea utensils; while branding and design plays an prominent role in nowadays consumption, tea industry is no exception, the Branding and Design Services zone will invite famous designers to showcase their design products and provide insights on brand building.

Festivities add flair to the show
Notable on this year’s lined-up programmes include: The International KamCha Competition (Hong Kong-style milk tea) gathers teams from different countries and regions to compete for the industry eminent titles whereas the HKTDC Hong Kong International Tea Fair Tea Competition 2012 is held to encourage industry players to establish tea brands, enhance standardisation of tea quality. Professional tea critics will be invited to grade the teas through blind tasting.

Useful knowledge can also be culled from the seminars, forums and workshops presented at the fair. Seize the golden opportunity to hear from respected speakers, each a leader in the field, at the International Tea Industry Conference.

Convenience of one-stop sourcing
Held alongside with the Tea Fair will be the 23rd HKTDC Food Expo (16-20 Aug) and the 11th International Conference & Exhibition of the Modernization of Chinese Medicine & Health Products (16-18 Aug). These three concurrent fairs will showcase related products under one roof, creating a synergy which can only benefit industry players.
