A Colorful Friendship
Queen JoAnn Schwendtner (Santa Barbara Belles with a Mission, Santa Barbara, California), Jan Berry (Berry Best of Oxnard, Oxnard, California), and Patti Richards (Santa Barbara Belles with a Mission) are the best of friends! Jan has known Patti and JoAnn for years, but they agree that being friends through the Red Hat Society really adds a special something to the friendship!

“JoAnn and I have been friends for over 30 years meeting through our husbands and their hobby of ham radio.  Her husband, Dennis, was also our piano tuner.

I met Patti when her son started kindergarten at El Rancho School in Goleta.  I was her son Jerry’s second grade teacher, and Patti became my room mother.  Her son is now a college graduate and Jerry’s been working 2 years past his degree!  I went to his college graduation celebration in Thousand Oaks. I introduced Patti to Queen JoAnn when Patti found out about the Red Hat Society eight years ago.  We appreciate this special bond of friendship; who knew this is where we would gather at our ages!”

Pretty Parasols
The Golden Belles of Clarington (Oshawa, Ontario, Canada) attended a party hosted by the Good Golly Miss Molly’s chapter (Bewdley, Ontario, Canada) and had a simply fabulous time! They enjoyed picking up some new Red Hat items at the Swap Sale, laughed themselves silly at the Funny Fashion Show, and ate a delicious lunch. Then it was time for the Parasol Parade: the participants each decorated a parasol with ribbons, feathers—whatever struck their fancy!  Deborah Mathias of the Golden Belles won first place for her “Singin’ In the Rain” themed parasol! These happy Hatters just can’t wait for next year’s party!
