Here at tea magazine life is busy and full of plentiful cups of good quality loose tea to make the cogs run smoothly. I wonder, as I sit here in England on a cool day, what life would be like without tea? It is a drink that is so much part of our heritage and our daily lives that it is impossible to imagine life without it.
For me, the Summer period is one of high activity spent visiting tea rooms across Britain. At the start of the year I plan out my visits and conduct any research needed but, once Spring and Summer open their doors, I am off! This year has been interesting; catching up with tea rooms previously visited and finding ‘new’ ones to add to my online guide. Over recent years I am seeing a shift toward more tea rooms serving loose leaf teas and this is something that delights and inspires me. Only this weekend I visited a tea room at a farm that had taken up loose teas as a trial to positive effect. Perhaps the tides are turning as more people demand quality teas with their cakes and tea room fare; time will tell. Loose teas can certainly offer the range and quality that those with good tea taste are demanding.
