5th ANNUAL WINDSOR WADE & TEA FAIR

Tuesday, June 29th 2010 @ 4:51 PM

On November 6 - 7, 2010, the Windsor Chamber of Commerce will hold its 5th Annual Wade & Tea Fair at Birch Meadow Banquet Facility in Bloomfield, CT. This is your chance to enjoy browsing your favorite Wade figurines and Tea items and enjoying fun tea themed activities.

You’ll get a specially commissioned Wade or Tea gift free with your $5 admission. And there will be a free Wade Collector’s Kit for all kids who attend.  The Hyatt Summerfield Suites is offering a Special Fair Rate. Call 860-298-8000 to make your reservations.

Wade and Tea vendors from across the US and Canada will be here for fair weekend to display and sell their extensive, and often specially-commissioned, Wade ceramic figurines and Tea items and goodies. Wade vendors include Happy Wade-ing of Kansas, Wades In Canada of Ontario and Wade New England. Tea vendors include Bliny Crepes Tea House of West Springfield, PaulaWalla.com Tea & Cups of Connecticut and The Tea House Times of New Jersey.  The Fair is a two-day event with a hospitality evening on Saturday night where you can indulge in snacks and good conversation with collectors and vendors. Rumor has it there will be a one-of-a-kind Wade prize donated by the Wade Collector's Club of England.

“We often get groups like the Red Hat Society that come to browse the fair and to go to the off-site tea events,” says Windsor Chamber of Commerce Executive Director, Jane Garibay.  “They have a great time.”  In past years the fair has included Tea Leaf Readers, Victorian Tea Shows, and more.  All the ‘extra’ events haven’t been schedule yet for this year’s fair.

Local businesses are getting into the spirit too, offering related events and specials over the weekend! Patti’s Treasures will be offering a rare selection of collectible Wade figurines as well as her wide range of antiques and collectibles. She always has some special edible treats for tasting, too. Her shop on Poquonock Avenue in Windsor is a Fair favorite!

The Wade & Tea Fair is a five year tradition in Windsor, Connecticut, started in 2006 when the Windsor Chamber of Commerce started a collectors’ fair for the Wade figurines people all over the world collect, many found in boxes of Red Rose Tea.

The Windsor Chamber of Commerce commissions a Show Special Wade piece from Wade in England each year.  The 2007 piece was The Three Bears, 2008 was the Cat and the Fiddle, 2009 was the Circus Poodle and the 2010 piece is an American Robin made just for the 5th annual Windsor Wade Fair.

Come browse this year’s fair and you’ll fall in love with these adorable collectables and enjoy some lovely teas and other goodies.
