The Mid-Atlantic Tea Business Association (MATBA) announces new term, Board Member assignments, and a vision for expanding the Association.

Ocean, NJ - The changeover of MATBA officers took place in May, 2010.  Kirsten Kristensen (Tea 4 U) is serving as the President and acting Treasurer.   Judith Krall Russo (Tea Food History) is Vice President and Membership Director.  Gail Gastelu (The Tea House Times) is Chief Information Officer, Press Liaison, and Advertising/Promotions Committee Chair.  Janet Young (Over the Teacup) is one of the Founding Members of the organization and is serving as Secretary and Historian.  The new leadership is working to increase membership by providing more benefits to members including additional educational and networking opportunities to facilitate the Association’s mission to advance the knowledge of tea.

MATBA was founded in 2005.  A list of Founding Members and new Board Member assignments and duties are available for viewing at http://www.matba.org   The first orders of business for the new Board include redesigning the Association’s website (already complete), offering more education and networking, building upon its member base, and establishing formal by-laws.

Full Membership privileges and website access are awarded to members inside the Mid-Atlantic region states including Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.  Positive word of mouth has already been spreading as to the membership benefits the new Board is working hard to improve.  New members already attracted have been waiting patiently for the new website to launch.   The MATBA website has been re-designed and is now maintained by The Tea House Times.  The ease of direct membership applications and processing via the website will better assist the Association with membership organization, access to benefits, member communication forums, and much more.

The Mid-Atlantic Tea Business Association invites all Tea Business Entrepreneurs within the Mid-Atlantic Region (Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania) to register at the website to become Primary members with voting privileges among other benefits.  Employees of these businesses may register at reduced rates.  Tea Business Entrepreneurs outside the Mid-Atlantic Region are invited to join as Friends with reduced member privileges.  All Membership Levels and Benefits may be viewed at www.matba.org.

In addition to membership, MATBA is welcoming Wholesale Vendors of interest to tea business owners to request a paid Sponsorship listing at the website along with the privilege to offer a special discount to members.  Sponsorship funding will increase MATBA’s reach for experienced tea industry educators to present at their quarterly meetings and annual seminars.
