No Longer Reserved for Little Girls, Tea Parties Get Cool with a Little Help from Tea Party Angelsposted by TeaHouseTimesAdmin , PRINT ADS and TEA BUREAUWednesday, March 10th 2010 @ 8:47 PM
Have Fun, Be Hip, Give Back --- New York, NY (March 10, 2010) --- Tea parties are becoming the hot party idea this year thanks to Tea Party Angles, a national fundraising initiative where girls host tea parties to raise money for girls’ education around the world.
And since cool girls don’t want to host a “little girls” tea party, they are creating ways to make their tea party uniquely their own. Rising young actress and Tea Party Angels spokesperson Emerald-Angel Young suggests a dance party element with everyone suggesting a favorite tune, and creating a fun play list to commemorate the event. Other ideas we’ve heard about include making smoothies instead of tea - girls bring a favorite fruit along with their donation, tea parties at a favorite outdoor location and costume-themed tea parties.
Cheryl Back, founder and Chief Executive Angel is so pleased with the ideas she is hearing about. “The freedom of expression and creativity is just wonderful. This combined with our strong message of social responsibility is a recipe for success all around.”
The importance of giving back and cultural awareness at every age is helping to fuel Tea Party Angels’ success. While the parties promote community building and raise money for girls less fortunate, they also happen to be a great way to get friends together.
The Tea Party Angels FUNdraising kit is available on its Web site, and offers a turn-key tea party. Monies are raised by the girls attending the tea party; each girl invited will be asked by her mother to do some sort of chore that will earn her money to donate at the tea party, giving her a sense of empowerment. During the Tea Party, each girl will have a turn to tell what she did to earn her donation. Tea parties will also include the showing of a brief educational video, and a friendship bracelet making activity. As a thank you gift, girls will receive a beaded bracelet made from girls in Guatemala. The host girl will decide which nonprofit to support from the list of qualified organizations on the Tea Party Angels Web site, or can simply choose the Tea Party Angels Fund which supports all of the organizations equally.
Tea Party Angels is fiscally sponsored by MADRE, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

Author to Help Kenyan Orphans through Heart for Africaposted by TeaHouseTimesAdmin , PRINT ADS and TEA BUREAUWednesday, March 10th 2010 @ 8:42 PM
Eugene, Oregon—March 11, 2010—Harvest House author Lisa Boalt Richardson has partnered with Heart for Africa to help build a needed facility for orphans in Kenya. Richardson, a certified tea specialist and author of The World in Your Teacup as well as Tea With a Twist, has announced that a portion of the proceeds from her new book will help build a septic system for an orphanage in Kenya.
“Kenya is a country with such poverty and so many opportunities to help,” says Richardson. She was eager to get involved with the organization once she learned of the need.
“With each book I write I have made a commitment to give something back,” she adds. “While doing research for The World in Your Teacup, it became clear that I wanted to reach out to Kenya. Heart for Africa seemed to be the perfect fit—not only is their home office in my city (Atlanta, Ga.), but I love the work they do. Their office is also home to HOW (Helping Orphans and Widows) which is a jewelry company that features pieces made by women in various villages across Kenya.”
Richardson says the proceeds from the sale of the jewelry also support Heart for Africa. To help show and share her heart for Africa, she plans to wear some of the handmade pieces at her speaking engagements and book signings.
A chapter in Richardson’s newest book, The World in Your Teacup, features a tea from Kenya, a region of the world which has produced tea for more than one hundred years.
In The World in Your Teacup (January), Richardson shares her passion for this popular beverage by leading tea-lovers on a fact-filled, taste-as-you-go journey around the world. Each destination—represented by an array of colorful dishes—is again exquisitely photographed by Rubinstein.
Sojourners will learn the history of tea and its influence on eight specific regions, including China, England, and Russia. From the many recipes Lisa has collected and Lauren has photographed, readers discover that a savory honey scone is perfect with dark Kenyan tea and a rich almond cookie called a ghoriba tastes great with a glass of sweet Moroccan tea. And every tea party planner will appreciate the helpful tips to create fun and tasty teas for their family and friends.
Richardson’s first book with Harvest House, Tea with a Twist (2009), was recently named the U.S. winner in the Best Tea Book category by the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards.
Tea with a Twist invites tea lovers craving new and novel ideas for their next tea party to be inspired by eight contemporary tea parties, with recipes for a mouth-watering Salmon entree and other culinary delights such as Salsa and Scones. Stunning photographs by food photographer Rubinstein grace each page, enticing readers to indulge their guests with fine tea.

Victorian Etc. Magazine is online!posted by Victoria Otto, PRINT ADS and TEA BUREAUSaturday, March 6th 2010 @ 10:00 AM
A love of all things Victorian, a practical yet slim budget, an artistic vein, and the dream to be a part of something special, are the contributing factors for the creation of Victorian Etc. magazine.
(In Issue #1, read "Afternoon Tea in the Victorian Era" by Gail Gastelu!)
In the Victorian era the middle class were finally realizing the “good life”. With the onset of the Industrial Revolution, materials and lifestyle once beyond their means were suddenly within reach. Clothing, food, material goods became affordable and simple comforts were accessible to most of the citizenry. Keep in mind, pleasures such as baths and perfumes were still considered luxuries.
Victorian Etc. attempts to bring the Victorian people, lifestyle, customs, and crafts to light. Lose yourself in the ambiance of another time, place, and century. Whether we share a cup of tea or tackle one of the do-it-yourself Victorian craft projects, we want to welcome you home. Think of us as friends or family. Feel the warmth from our Victorian fireplace. Eat, drink, and be merry…
Editor,
Victoria
