The Benefits of Alkaline Water

posted by Faye Fitzgerald, PRINT ADS and TEA BUREAUFriday, November 20th 2009 @ 10:44 AM

Tea Time Finery introduces a marvelous alkaline, antioxidant, super hydrating water that comes to the U.S. after 35 years of use in Japan, where it is endorsed by the Japanese Assn. of Preventive Medicine.  This is an exciting product for all who are interested in health and wellness, as well as for tea business owners and tea drinkers who enjoy the flavors of select and special teas.

Since the human body is 75% water, it is imperative that we stay hydrated.  But what are we drinking?  Tap water with chemical additives?  Bottled water with harmful properties?  Soda with terrible effects on our bodies? Sports drinks and other acidic drinks often hazardous to our health?

Why drink alkaline water?  Excess acidity weakens all body systems, causing the body to take minerals from vital organs and bones to neutralize the acid and remove it from the body.  Cancer thrives in an acidic body, and by the year 2010 (that's a month away), cancer will be the #1 killer worldwide.  On the other hand, NO disease - including cancer - can exist in an alkaline environment.

Why is this of interest to tea enthusiasts?  Not only is this alkaline water healthy, it also enhances the flavor of tea and removes the tannins from tea.  Tannins impart an astringent taste and may interfere with digestive processes.

Please call or email me for more information on how this water can help bring your body into a state of balance.

‘Tea with a Twist’ Nominated for International Award

‘Tea with a Twist’ Nominated for International Award

Eugene, Oregon—November 11, 2009—The Harvest House gift title Tea with a Twist (2009), by certified tea specialist Lisa Boalt Richardson and photographer Lauren Rubinstein, is a Gourmand World Cookbook Award nominee, the Paris-based organization announced in late October.

The book was also recently awarded The Tea House Times Seal of Approval.

Tea with a Twist invites tea lovers craving new and novel ideas for their next tea party to be inspired by eight contemporary tea parties, with recipes for a mouth-watering Salmon entree and accoutrements such as Salsa and Scones. Stunning photographs by food photographer Rubinstein grace each page, enticing readers to indulge their guests with fine tea.

In her new book The World in Your Teacup (January 2010), Richardson shares her passion for this popular beverage by leading tea-lovers on a fact-filled, taste-as-you-go journey around the world. Each destination—represented by an array of colorful dishes—is again exquisitely photographed by Rubinstein.

Sojourners will learn the history of tea and its influence on eight specific regions, including China, England, and Russia. From the many recipes Lisa has collected and Lauren has photographed, readers discover that a savory honey scone is perfect with dark Kenyan tea and a rich almond cookie called a ghoriba tastes great with a glass of sweet Moroccan tea. And every tea party planner will appreciate the helpful tips to create fun and tasty teas for their family and friends.

Travel the globe with Lisa, feast your eyes on Lauren’s beautiful photos of delectable treats, and share a cup of tea in a foreign tradition—all from the comfort of home!
