Reba Starling-Silvey, owner of the Shoppe at Shady Gables of Versailles, Missouri was recently honored with a top business award from Lake Lifestyles Magazine.
Established in 2000, the Shoppe at Shady Gables is an Authentic English-style Afternoon Tea Room and Inspiring Gift Shop. The shop is located in a 1903 Turn-of-the-century Victorian House in the rural small town of Versailles, Missouri; a community of 2,600 people, near the Lake of the Ozarks in central Missouri.
The Shoppe at Shady Gables has been featured in many regional publications and two national publications. These include: a cover story in Country Woman Magazine; an Associated Press newspaper article which ran in many newspapers throughout the Midwest; Ozarks Monthly Magazine; Mid Missouri Mature Living Magazine; Missouri Life Magazine; featured in Teatime Treasures book by popular Missouri artist, Joy Marie Heimsoth; included in America’s Best Tea Room Recipe Book by CQ Products; included in Girlfriend’s Day Out Book by Cindy Lou Haskins; Featured on a local cable TV channel program and countless other newspaper articles.
The Shoppe at Shady Gables was voted one of the top four Tea Rooms in Missouri by the readers of The Tea House Times magazine. The Shoppe was also selected as the number one tea room in Missouri by teamap.com
Reba was elected as the 2006 Business Person of the Year by the Lake Area Economic Development Council. Reba is the author of her own cookbook, “Made in the Shade” Simple Recipes for an Elegant Tea Time, now in its 5th printing.
