Ocean, NJ - The Mid-Atlantic Tea Business Association (MATBA) will hold its annual meeting and seminar on Monday, April 23, 2012. In-Region member businesses of MATBA will be electing Board Members for the 2012-2014 term. The meeting will take place at Gypsy’s Tearoom in Westminster, Maryland from 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and includes a light breakfast tea, program schedule, tea luncheon and business meeting. The Association welcomes new businesses interested in joining.
The MATBA has invited local vendors to display and present their products through a preview of vendor exhibits including Florapharm Tea-USA and Maryland China Company. Drew Hanson, owner of Boukakuan Japanese Tea House and Garden in Columbus, New Jersey, will present Chado, The Role of Utensils Used and an introduction to incorporating matcha into non-Japanese settings. Following an afternoon tea luncheon, members will meet Pennsylvania author, Eric Schoeniger who will share his motivation and research in writing “The Teahouse by the Tracks.” Members attending the meeting will receive a copy of the book and an opportunity to have their books signed by Eric.
A business meeting and board member elections will take place following the presentations and luncheon. The next regular quarterly meeting of the Mid Atlantic Tea Business Association will take place in July, 2012, location to be announced.
The Mid-Atlantic Tea Business Association invites all Tea Business Entrepreneurs within the Mid-Atlantic Region (Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania) to register at the website to become In-Region members with voting privileges among other benefits. Tea Business Entrepreneurs outside the Mid-Atlantic Region are invited to join as Out-of-Region members with reduced member privileges. In addition to membership, MATBA is welcoming Wholesale Vendors of interest to tea business owners to request a paid Sponsorship listing at the website along with the privilege to offer a special discount to members. Sponsorship funding will increase MATBA’s reach for experienced tea industry educators to present at their quarterly meetings and annual seminars.
