Annual Windsor Wade & Tea Fair

The 2010 Windsor Wade & Tea Fair will take place November 6-7, 2010 at Birch Meadow Banquet Facility in Connecticut. Special Rate Hotel accommodations will be provided by the Hyatt Summerfield Suites in Windsor, CT.

Formerly known as the Red Rose Tea Fair - The Annual Windsor Wade and Tea Fair attracts collectors from all over the country every year to browse Tea and Wade items and to enjoy tea-themed events.

Vendors include sellers of Wade figurines or tea related merchandise.  Visitors have an opportunity to meet Authors Ian Warner and Mike Posgay. Enjoy an Afternoon Tea and other events.  Purchase Fair special edition figurines.  Purchase or search for figurines missing from your own collection and find some unique tea related merchandise.

Anyone who's been to the fair in the past probably know Jane and Paula, the Fair's organizers.  Jane Garibay is the Executive Director of the Windsor Chamber of Commerce and Paula Pierce is the Past President, a volunteer position.  Thanks to Jane and Paula for taking time to answer our questions today.

GAIL/THE TEA HOUSE TIMES:  Aside from location and name, has anything changed about the Annual Windsor Wade and Tea Fair?  Please share with our readers the main highlights and events surrounding each annual fair.

Yes, this is our 5th annual event, so we’re making it extra special.  We’re bringing back, by popular demand, Candi Karle, the Victorian dress lady who will perform during the Vitorian “Un”dress Tea & Show.  We’re also adding a Children’s “Pearls & Lace” Tea Party this year which will be great fun, especially for mothers and daughters to attend. And there will be an American Girl Doll raffle prize!  On the Wade side, we’re creating Wade Collector Starter Kits. Each child who attends the fair will get a free Kit.

GAIL/THE TEA HOUSE TIMES:  Please tell us a little about the Windsor Chamber of Commerce and why you host the Annual Windsor Wade and Tea Fair.

There are several reasons we hold the Wade & Tea Fair each year.  One is to support our local businesses. This event brings business to Windsor, especially for the Hyatt Summerfield Suites, Birch Meadow Banquet Facility, Patti’s Treasures, and to The Beanery at Bart’s. The Fair also gives Windsor and the area a fun event each year.

GAIL/THE TEA HOUSE TIMES:  If someone is interested in becoming a vendor at the Fair or a sponsor, they may visit to register.  What is included in the vendor fee?

The vendor registration fee of $75 includes two days with two tables, table skirts, two chairs, electricity, if needed, and access to a phone line to process credit card orders periodically throughout the day.  Vendors can enjoy a free dinner on Friday night after vendor setup, and if they register early, they may get additional publicity by being included in more press releases and on our website.

GAIL/THE TEA HOUSE TIMES:  Tell us about the Fair special edition figurines introduced each year.  Are these limited edition and available only at the Fair?

Each year we commission a special figurine for the fair from Wade in England.  This year we’re offering not one Wade limited edition figurine, but a set of three!  They are three adorable American Robins. One in red, one in white, and one in blue.

GAIL/THE TEA HOUSE TIMES:  If someone is interested in attending the Fair, what is the procedure for purchasing tickets for the Fair and other special events such as afternoon tea, etc.?

To register to attend the fair ($5) or events (price varies by event), you can go to the Chamber website at
