August 11, 2014

Greetings from The Tea House Times!

August is, of course, a big month for vacations and some are headed back to school very soon.  Summer siestas make general news chatter a bit light, so our Tea Scoop was postponed the last couple of weeks but will return later this week.

Otherwise, there have been several news releases and announcements over the past week.
In short, World Tea Expo has announced a new event director, Coffee Fest moves to Portland, Coffee and Tea Festival announces Philly event for November, and Lisa Boalt Richardson's latest book, Modern Tea, is set to release in October (a special book signing will be held with the Mid-Atlantic Tea Business Association). - Please see all news listed and linked below.

We have heard over and over that beverage sales are up this summer with tea cocktails among the most popular - it just goes along with summer, doesn't it?  So, you will likely enjoy reading several of our Guest Blog posts related to creating some very unique cocktails with tea as an ingredient. Please drink responsibly!!  : )

Greetings from The Tea House Times!

We hope you are enjoying summer with friends and family and exploring new ways to enjoy iced tea.  We have noticed tea being used as a mixer for a lot of refreshing beverages this season along with matcha being used in smoothies and frozen treats! If you hit upon a winner, send us the recipe.

If you missed our Tea Scoop last week, please note that World Tea Expo has decided to return to Long Beach, California for 2015. Their press release is linked below.

The latest Tea Scoop from last week is also linked below with other news. It has been a very busy time for tea. Tea is constantly in the news. Of course we expect this in the winter during hot tea month and in the summer for iced tea month, but the excitement just keeps building and building as tea continues to experience healthy growth in many interesting ways.

STI (Specialty Tea Institute) has recently  announced a NEW Learning Expo in conjunction with their certification courses. The event takes place August 6-9 alongside TEXSOM (Texas Sommelier Conference) in Dallas, Texas. STI has a new website too! Read more. . .

July 7, 2014

Greetings from The Tea House Times! We hope you had a wonderful weekend!

In an effort to extend the voice of the tea industry and promote the finer aspects of the enjoyment of tea and its health benefits, The Tea House Times rolled out two new outreach programs back in February; TEA SCOOP and guest bloggers for TEA BLOGS. (See: Giving Voice to Tea)  Both have been successful steps toward achieving this goal but only the beginning - how will you personally help extend the voice of tea? Do you share tea with family and friends?

Daily enjoyment of tea and sharing the experience goes a long way for creating personal and business relationships. In fact, we are also seeing tea used in other impressive ways to more deeply bond relationships - even being brought in as part of a wedding ceremony!

Did you know that tea was part of the very first meeting of the Red Hat Society? Yes! And the reason we are so excited that The Tea House Times is now available to ALL RHS members as part of their membership with the Red Hat Society . We are excited to share the joys of tea with so many people who simply enjoy it - in addition to reaching many wonderful tea businesses.

If you want to help extend the voice of tea, there will be plenty of opportunities to do so. We will be rolling out little bits of new things over the next few months and sporadically over the next year to keep the momentum and excitement and enjoyment of tea constantly moving forward. For now, please read Gail's blog entry from last week for a little insight into some small changes coming soon.
