The Tea House Times Presents

AN INTERVIEW WITH DIANE SHIPLEY DECILLIS

STEEP SHOW TEAS

This month we are interviewing Diane Shipley DeCillis, Steep Show Teas.  The company, which began in 2007, has three distinctive lines with more to come.  Steep Show Teas are carefully selected for quality and flavor. From the art that celebrates the beauty of the human form to the intoxicating aroma and textures, Steep Show Teas gives you a tea experience that indulges body, mind and spirit.

GAIL GASTELU, THE TEA HOUSE TIMES:  Diane, you have been recognized as a leader in fine art and giftware trends for over 30 years, own an award-winning gallery, and have published fine art posters for some of the best museums in the country.

Please tell us a little about your husband and how your talents have combined to create such a unique line of teas.

DIANE SHIPLEY DECILLIS, STEEP SHOW TEAS:  My husband, Lou DeCillis, is a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America and an award-winning chef.  Our teas are not only about quality, flavor and health benefits, but also about the aesthetic of the palettes. We’ve combined the refined palate of the culinary arts with the fine art palette to create teas that look beautiful and taste delicious.

GAIL:  Please tell us about the Artist’s Garden Collection.

DIANE:  Romance is in bloom with, The ARTIST'S GARDEN COLLECTION: This romantic collection comes from pairing carefully selected fine teas with celebrated landscapes. From the sweet floral fragrance of the Quince trees in Monet’s gardens, to the oranges and lush spices reminiscent of DaVinci’s Italian countryside, we bring you the Art of Tea.

GAIL:  Please tell us about the Body, Mind and Spirit Collection.

DIANE:  Expose yourself to the art of tea with, THE BODY MIND AND SPIRT COLLECTION:  Pairing fine art masterpieces, from Rousseau’s Dream evoking the jungle green of a rainforest to Ingres’ Chai Odalisque with its harem of bold spices, we celebrate the beauty of the human form. The fragrant aroma and textures of these fine teas will indulge body, mind and spirit.

GAIL:  Please tell us about your Royal Tea Collection.

DIANE: Our Royal Tea Collection is a regal collection of fine teas befitting the Kings and Queens of the past, and the sovereign in you. It features King Henry’s Earl Gray, Elizabeth’s Royal Gray, Antoinette's French Vanilla Lavender, (which is my current favorite) and Napoleon’s Emperor Oolong. It’s gotten rave reviews.

GAIL:  And, finally, please tell us about the latest collection

DIANE:  For all of the literary lovers in our lives Steep Show Tea presents, THE LITERARY TEA COLLECTION:  Pairing beloved authors with exquisite teas we pay homage to the literary greats. Beautifully packaged with a portrait and a famous passage, each tea is a fine blend of custom notes and flavors designed to evoke the spirit of the author. From Jane Austen's Rose Tea, to Whitman's Leaves of Green, you’ll want to sink into your favorite chair with a good book and a cup of these inspired blends.

GAIL:  I see you also offer Custom Label Tea.  Is this for retailers ordering wholesale only, or can anyone get custom tea?  How does the program work?

DIANE: Yes, we offer custom labels both retail and wholesale and also custom blends. A special label to commemorate an event or occasion really adds a wonderful touch.

Steep Show Teas will be represented by Tea Bureau in Booth #307 at World Tea Expo, Las Vegas, June 24-26, 2011.
