Not all of your marketing/advertising efforts need to cost money. Newspapers love to hear stories about afternoon tea especially if you are hosting a charitable event. See below for some unique advertising ideas.
1. Local newspaper ads. See suggestions at bottom of page. 2. Send news releases to local newspapers highlighting special events at your tea room. News releases are great especially if you are hosting a charitable event. 3. National Magazine ads are good if you have a web based business to sell products or services. Otherwise stick to publications and newspapers geographically close to your business. These are usually less costly and more regionally effective. 4. Mail postcards to customers. 5. Mail or give out newsletters to customers. (Try The Tea House Times full version or a custom newsletter) 6. Donate to local organizations such as schools for their fundraisers. People will see and hear about your donation. 7. A website is great even if it is a simple one page website with a photo, hours, and location. Don't have a website? With a website you have the ability of swapping links to your site with other tea related businesses. And you can get your tea room listed with popular tea room guides on the internet. 9. Co-op ads. Get together with other tea rooms in your area and/or antique shops. Advertise together to create a destination~a wonderful outing to tea and shopping.
